Did you have to do any stiffening to the underside of the table after making the hole? Maybe a pic of the underside would be instructive.

Pics from the bottom and one more showing adjustment key to raise or lower the router. No, I did not do anything to the under side as I don't think it's necessary. The SS table is stiff as it is.

Thank you, very nice job. I see you used pieces of the cut out table at the corners under the lexan router plate. Ingenious!

It looks as though you have done a great job BUT I have a question. Are there any distinct advantages to doing this modification rather than simply purchasing one of these? Other than cash outlay, please.

I used a piece of Aluminum angle iron for a straight edge clamped to table with C-clamps. I used the existing lines on the table for width 6 1/2" and 13 3/4" long. Used a piece of 1/4" Lexan to fill where the SS table insert was.
Used my 1587 Bosch jig saw to make the cuts. Also used some old miter slot steel for filler. I am on the look out for some bar stock the right size.

Sort of!
I went from copying your design, to using a die grinder to excavate 3/8" from the top of a main table but leaving the trunnion, to cutting a hole all the way through and attaching Kreg brackets on the bottom to hold the an Incra plate but still avoid the trunnion, to copying SS slide on $340 version but using melamine book shelves and a set of 510 floating table tubes (SIGNIFICANTLY less than $340), to using my Bosch table attached to the M7 main table, however just using a 510 main table with no trunnion seems plausible, even Don's idea of a jig saw (I was planning to use a saws-all with a demolition blade) is good!.....AAARRRGGGGG!!!! It was easier to pick a router than what to do for the flipping table!!!:eek:

It is a very good think that I no longer drink alcohol!!

Decisions were so much easier before retirement (and divorce) someone always told me what to do and where to go (A LOT!)

I think I'll make a few variations to see which I like best (or least). Keep the winner (and then try and figure out how to modify it

)

So , yes Steve I am rethinking!
