I see Shopsmith has the Sliding Table on sale. The photo is pretty poor but it sounds like something similar to the Dubby system I have for my Craftsman 113.xxx saw. I actually have a right side Dubby I was saving to try and modify for the Shopsmith. If this works it might be a good option. Any current users out there?
Apparently the Dubby was available for the Shopsmith at one time and for some reason he discontinued the product. I think it was related to the table size. I actually purchased the Dubby for my Delta contractors saw and then found out it was not recommended. That let to a Craftsman 113 and a compelte overhaul. I can't complain as it is a really nice saw. Size wise though it stays in the garage while the Shopsmith is in the attached workshop and ready to go at all times.

Not I, but I noticed it this morning and thought “Now there’s something that I might be able to make all by myself.”mgbbob wrote:I see Shopsmith has the Sliding Table on sale. Of course, I could be wrong.
The sliding table can be configured for some angles. Not sure how many, though. There are several screw holes for attaching the fence at angles. Mine has no markings on the table to assist in setting it up. I only use it for 90º cuts.
The optional off cut table would be nice but, I've never had a problem without it.

I've had mine for years, use it and love it. I store it on ceiling, immediately over the SS, really low ceiling height. Like Gene I've never used the angle cutting feature. I made a companion piece to catch cut-offs.

The "sliding table" is just a "crosscut sled" by another name, right?

Close. It is only on one side of the blade. A half sled so to speak.heathicus wrote:The "sliding table" is just a "crosscut sled" by another name, right?
