If it isn't broken. . .

If it isn't broken. . .
If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. That’s the mantra of our government. Apparently it was also the mantra of GM under Dan Ackerson, Chairman of the Board, under the Obama bail out. People died but Ackerson was only copying the Fed’s policy. Preventative maintenance is meaningless, don’t do anything until it crashes and then hope no one sees the crash. How many people died in GM’s debacle before anyone noticed the crash? Far more than we will ever know.
Did Ackerson know about it? Of course he did. He was a control freak. If he told an HR Director, who had signed up a Credit Union for employees that she had two weeks to get rid of it (because he hated credit unions) or she was fired then he knew about this. When you exercise control down to the level of an HR Director then you have to know about what is going on at the top.
I applaud Mary Bara, current COB. She needs to tell Congress how much Ackerson knew.
If it isn’t broken means ignore it, like a stray cat, and maybe it will go away. Wait until it all explodes and then see if you can fix it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pond of uranium.

Bush started the bail-out then continued when Obama took office.

Oh my. That is caustic, vitriolic, acerbic, harsh, and perhaps bellicose. Do others really believe that? I do, but don't know how to put it to a vote on this site. Anyone want to post that for voting?garys wrote:Actually, I believe the mentality of the current administration is, "We have succeeded in breaking it, now lets destroy it totally so it can never be fixed."

Not sure about all those adjectives, but IMHO the 'liberal' agenda is contrary to what made this country great in the first place. Freedom! Freedom to pursue personal goals. Freedom to personally excel and be justifiably rewarded. Freedom from excessive governmental restrictions. Freedom from excessive taxation. Freedom from 'political correctness' criticism.db5 wrote:Oh my. That is caustic, vitriolic, acerbic, harsh, and perhaps bellicose. Do others really believe that? A platitude is a trite, meaningless, or prosaic statement, generally directed at quelling social, emotional, or cognitive unease. The word derives from plat, French word for "flat." Platitudes are geared towards presenting a shallow, unifying wisdom over a difficult topic. However, they are too overused and general to be anything more than undirected statements with ultimately little meaningful contribution towards a solution. Examples could be statements such as "Meet in the middle", "Everybody has a right to an opinion", "Everything happens for a reason", "It is what it is", and "Do what you can". Platitudes are generally a form of thought-terminating cliché.
