I cant quit understand what you and I are discribing into the same coralation.
Okay, you are facing the jointer from the back of the SS, the broad area of the jointer fence is facing you and the depth cut scale. If you raise the infeed table to zerro cut depth it is on the same plane as the out feed table. Now placing a level flat as a straight edge per say, on the top surface of the out feed table it should lay flat on the top surface of the infeed table also, for the length of the infeed table. It does not, it touches the left top surface of the infeed table where it comes up to the cutter head, then the top surface of the infeed table angles down to a depth of 3/32nds from the level at the right side where the fence attaches to the infeed table.

OK, the infeed end is lower than the cutter end. The same on both sides(across the ends)?

If so, take the infeed table loose and inspect the surfaces where the infeed table slides. The sliding surfaces should make complete contact for their entire length and depth of cut adjustment.

Are these parts correctly assembled and tensioned?

You almost got it!!!LOL, we are using different terms here I think. The whole top surface of what I think you are reffering to as "the cutter end" is what I am calling the outfeed table, I think we are both reffering to the infeed table as "the infeed table. Now to make a propper cut they should both be flat, acting as 1 table when the infeed table is set for a 0 depth of cut. From the very left end of the outfeed table to the very right end of the infeed table where the fence mounts, if you put a straight edge on them they should be flat with each other as if they were one. The way it is now, if you do that, the straight edge lays flat on the outfeed (cutter table as you call it I think) touches the top surface of the infeed table right by the cutter head, then the top surface of the infeed table drops down at an angle, at the right side end of it where the fence mounts there is 3/32 gap between the table top surface and the straight edge.
So what is happening in real time when you make a cut, you are sliding the board along and flat on the infeed table over the cutter, moving the board "uphill" to the cutter head, when the first half of the board is jointed it is above the outfeed table and the back half of it is still flat on the infeed table, then, since more of the board is past the cutter head, "which is acting as a pivit point", the front half drops down to lay flat on the outfeed table, raising the back half off of the infeed table, now the board is flush with the cutting blades and does not cut/joint the rest of the edge of the back half of the board. That at the moment is the best I can do.
The nut and washers are in right and just beyound snug, the infeed table moves nicly, and when I looked at the 4 points where the infeed table slides on the 4 matching areas seem to be in contact.

From what I've heard the infeed/outfeed tables are ground together (as a matched pair) at the factory.

Could a previous owner have combined mis-matched parts from two different jointers?

Yes, any Shopsmith joiner in-feed table will fit on another out-feed table frame regardless of when they were made. I found when I did combined 2 tables from different joiners, it was cost effective to machine the table surfaces. Any machine shop that machines engine heads can do this work. Shopsmith did have the joiner table surfaces machined as a unit. I was able to hand work two different tables to have their table surfaces be flat together but found the time and labor to be quite excessive. My machinist has done a few joiners for me mainly because of the excessive table surface rust and/or wrapped table surfaces and he did machined one joiner with mismatched tables.

Yup, just as I thought. The title of this thread is very misleading.

Does the motor still "just humm" or has it been too scrapped like this thread was.

Well JPG I am surprised in you!!!!!!!!!!! Not up for a challenge????
Bill and all, I looked it over real good before signing in, the infeed table is resting on all 4 mating surfaces. Moves smoothly, rechecked the table alignment, still off. I dont know what the previous owner may have done, but lathe stuff was never used along with some other items, miter gauge wood extension is still in the box and where the carrage bolts would have "cut" into the round holes is not there, so I am figuring he never mounted it, also it is longer at each end, the way it is now if mounted on the MG you would cut off about 2" on either end.
So I doubt he dicked around with seperate jointer tables, unless he bought it used from some one and they did.
My thought is maybe and need to look and think about it, put shim stock inbetween the 2 lower gibs to raise that end of the table to flush it out with the outfeed one, comments?

What I gave up on was not the jointer problem.]both[/B] of the two corners nearest the outfeed table at the same height as the outfeed table? Are both corners at the opposite end of the infeed table low by the same amount?

IIWM, I would be looking closely at the sliding surfaces.

Yes that means taking it apart.

JPG, I just could not inturpid some of your terminology.
I have not done the 4 corner thing yet, I will in the morning.
