The patent ran out LONG ago on the SS. I THINK the 23/32 WAS the standard of the day in the mid 50's.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

It shall be interesting to see what falls out from this assertion.:D

I do not know what any 'standard' of the day was. Typical or more common would be a more accurate description IMHO.

More likely(pure conjecture) the smaller dimension was 'derived' as a size easily machined to tighter tolerances from standard 3/4" bar stock.

I stand corrected. I wasn't aware you can order the v120 directly form Incra. Must be new!, wasn't in their previous catalog unless I overlooked it.

Hey Don,
It very well may be that is it not in their catalog. I've always shopped for their toys via their web site (or Amazon).

Before getting the miter express / 1000SE combo for the Shopsmith, I was considering trying to mate a 1000HD to a V27 SS bar or just mill down a 1000 bar to fit in the SS. After lots of poking around on their site looking for parts, I found things that INCRA sells for SS. Having never received (nor requested) a catalog, I never considered what might be in it.

Be well,
Ben

After posting, now I can't find the old catalog. Maybe I had a bad dream or something. Anyway senility is probably taking over. :)

I don't believe it is possible to patent dimensions.

As far as I know anything you would "Patent" would have dimensions otherwise it really wouldn't define how an object occupies space.

I didn't mean a dimension per se but how it is applied to a drawing to define the size of an object.

I've found that the good thing about my senility is that I forget what I forgot and consider it a win-win! Kind of like equations canceling themselves out.:D

Fret not about where you left the car keys. Now if you forget what they are for, . . . .

A good friend has a car that uses a fob he keeps in his pocket! No keys! Last summer, his oldest grandson decided he should have a keyless front entry, too so bought the kit and installed it. A day or two later as we come back from lunch he goes to the front door and cannot remember the combination! his wife is not home and won't answer her cell phone. About twenty minutes later we finally reach his grandson who gives him a passcode. Yes the front door DOES allow a key to be used, but it had been left inside the house, nice and safe! :D If we had taken his car that didn't use the keys we could have gone in through the garage, but I drove. I'll stick with keys or maybe upgrade to voice activation or find a nice cave!!

I miss the days when we left the house unlocked and the car keys above the visor!:(
