SS email special on Speed Increaser

I received an email from SS while I was traveling last week pertaining to their sale on the Speed Increaser (#555462). The price is cut from $280.88 to $240.71 a saving of $40.17. I just got off the phone ordering this SPT.

One more heads-up, the sale ends tomorrow 3 April at the close of business at SS. The sale has a code: 7DU543

Pretty good deal, the savings is enough to pay for shipping and and have $20.00 left over.

I got the email for the speed increaser too, and I'm so tempted to order one. I always have problems when I'm attempting to use the router for making raised panel doors. I think the extra speed might make the job much easier.

I'm not sure I see the utility of the speed increaser for that price...for that kind of $$, I was able to buy a Bosch router (with plunge attachment) and a Bosch router table...more versatile IMO. Now the speed reducer...I see multiple uses for that and it's worth the $$ if I had it.

I have a Grizzly 3/4" shaper with 1 HP motor producing 10,000 rpm. I wanted the speed increaser for my SS so I can use it in tandem with the Grizzly. Many shaper cuts require several different bits such as creating copes for stile and rails. I wanted under table shaping for my SS. Yes, you can setup a router to do this, but the cost of it plus a good router table will be more than the sale price.
