What a beautiful machine! I love it.

Can you buy paint of the correct color?

Would I be better mounting a bandsaw to this or using the PowerPro headstock?

If it were me, I'd use the new Mark 7 Power Pro for the bandsaw. Not that there's anything wrong with the ER, just that it takes a lot of custom modification OR purchasing expensive rare original adapters to make it work. When I just had ERs, I was looking into getting a Shopsmith bandsaw and adapting it to the ER. Then I happened upon a Mark 5 that included a bandsaw and never gave it another thought.

Connecting the Bandsaw to a Mark 5/7 (V/VII? I can never get the "proper" usage of the Roman vs Arabic numerals) is easy peasy. They were designed to be used together. Although I don't have first-hand experience, I understand the computerized speed control of the Power Pro greatly enhances that.

As for the original color, there's often a lot of debate about that. I've seen color codes listed on the Yahoo 10ER group and I've read reports of people trying to use those codes and being told they are meaningless. When I did my restoration, I left one section of original paint on the jigsaw - where the two halves come together - untouched just in case I ever wanted to match that color. Then I painted it black because it was easy. In my restorations I haven't been concerned with matching the original color, but just painting it what I wanted to paint it. One ER is silver, this one is black, and my Mark 5 is a Black & Gold New Orleans Saints theme. Future restorations (like my Sawsmith RAS I hope to get done this summer) will follow the Black & Gold theme. Eventually, I might re-paint my ERs black & gold to match as well.

But I think my favorite ER paint job is MickyD's "greenie" colors.

One more thing, when you do the restore, leave 1 inch of way tubes outside of the way tubes, on both ends. (or, 1/2 of the thickness of the tailstock piece.) Are you aware that the tailstock mounts on both ends? Makes it easier to crosscut LONG pieces, if you have 2 tailstocks and extension tables.

OMG ... That is a work of art. I agree, if those aren't the correct colors, they should be LOL

OK here are the pictures. Working outside for light while I am clearing out the apartment (was office building) so I can move everything in.

As you can see, the tubes are not that bad. Everything moves (now) on them

I love the original magna boxes ...

Everything that came with it ... well not the coffee mug ...

I wonder if this is the original motor. Weren't the motors made by Westinghouse? This is the correct speed and HP (I think)..

Everything works. I crosscut a 1x12 and drilled a 3/4 hole into a 2x4. I am impressed. Neat machine. I hate to admit it, but my father in law was right ....

Originally, the motor was an option. You could buy it without the motor and supply your own, or you could add the motor which was generally an AO Smith.

OK, I had read in the owners manual online that as long as the speed was right and the power rating was right, that any motor would do. So I guess that could be the original.

I found a few problems this morning when taking pictures and playing. The quill return spring is probably broken. I am pending on membership at the 10ER Yahoo group, so I could just wait for them, but is there a parts availability for any of this stuff? I also would like to find a fence for it. With all of the "things" that came with it, I was disappointed that the fence was missing. A few things are needed for the jigsaw as well. I have found a few fences on ebay, but I don't know whether to be leery of that or not...

Any advice master .... :)

Also, how and where does the shaper fence mount/fit? I can't figure it out ... :/

In the saw blade insert hole. Surprise!:D

As for a fence, most of them are likely acceptable. What ones are you looking at? Ya should get an ER version, not an E version. Most sellers do not distinguish them properly.

LMAO, of course, that is what the wing nuts are for!

This is the fence I am looking at. If you say OK, I will pull the trigger! :)

Of those two, I'd do the second one you listed. On the first one, something looks funky about the back table lock to me.
