This morning, this popped up on my browser screen. I must have done an online search and Google now knows what I use. But look at the price differentials.
First observations are likely wrong. Factors like "unit of issue" and "shipping costs" confuse the conclusion.
In order to stop seing publicities on what I search on Internet I now use
https://startpage.com/
It is powered by Google but it does not memorise your IP address.
Many publicities will be listed but you learn to navigate through those with time. Try it.

#10 machine oil (non detergent).teacherman wrote:I see there are several different "Zoom-Spout" oilers. Different brands, and seemingly different oils. Which one is the recommended one? The stuff is cheap enough, and one bottle will last a good while, it seems to me.

As long as we are not talking about internal combustion engines, is there any good reason to debate detergent versus non-detergent oils?JPG40504 wrote:#10 machine oil (non detergent).
Do they even manufacture #10 machine oil that is detergent?.

Well, I had the day off due to having a little "procedure" yesterday, so the three of us went over to the electric place a block away, and they had Holden's Zoom Spouts (turbine) oil for $3.10 a bottle. I got two. Mail order is cheaper, but local counts for a lot to me. Mr. Patchen said he has redone a number of the old Shop Smith motors over the years, and with a smile he invited me to bring it on over if it ever needs serious electrical repair. He's a nice guy, willing to give advice and make small talk. His granddad started the store in 1948. He complimented me on my little son, who is seven weeks post-emergent as of today. I hope someday that Emerson gets as much enjoyment from my power tools as I have. I suppose I should switch out the GE for an Emerson motor, though, to make it authentically his....

I do not think so, but not everyone realizes that machine oil and automotive oil are 'different'. The main(AIUI) difference is the inclusion of additives to the automotive version. I include the 'non-detergent' info as a clue to not get 'detergent automotive oil'. I believe #10 Motor oil is acceptable if non-detergent. TBK, any thing is better than none.dusty wrote:As long as we are not talking about internal combustion engines, is there any good reason to debate detergent versus non-detergent oils?

I just checked the contents of my zoom-spout bottle of oil. It specifically states that the oil "contains no detergents". I guess that makes it #10 non-detergent turbine oil.
