That is brilliant. I ran out and checked but no gap, not even a feeler gauge would fit under the fence. But the fence does have a series of holes drilled through it's heavy metal casting. I would really like to connect 2 of the holes to form a slot where I could slide my folding ruler through. The old craftsman fence is generally nice but I have to make double sure it's parallel to the blade every time. The near side measurement from blade to fence is a lot easier for me that the far. The slot would make it slick and simple.
I cannot take credit for that! Another forum member came up with that.
The SS fence rests on the table top only at the ends.
