The Dewalt 735 has reversable blades so they will last longer. I have successfully sharpened 735 blades using the same system as above. It is not as handy as with Shopsmith blades because the 735 blades are thinner and need shimming. I have only been successful in re-sharpening them twice. After that they lose their needed blade width.rcplaneguy wrote: One thing I like about the shopsmith planer is being able to sharpen the knives so easily, with the sharpening jig and conical sanding disk. Amazing, really.
I figure I have saved about $800 so far, over a Shopsmith planer. I can buy a whole lot of replacement blades for that money. Either that, or I can buy two 735s.
