Skou I include Mark 2(and 1) in the x. There is enough similarity to make that appropriate(but dicey!) I still refer to them(5/2/1/V/7) specifically when more accurate. Truth be exposed, the 1,2 are not only rare, but commonly not heard of so minimal misdirection results from meaning all when using 'x'.

I also refer to the MkVII as one of the Mark-Xs.

Not only is the Mk2 rare, but it is the ME, or Vista, (8?) of Shopsmith. Sorry to get all OS on you guys.

I think that "ER" before the serial number indicates that the machine was originally a Model E that was factory upgraded to an ER before being shipped out. One of my three ERs is like that:



Notice the "Model 10E" at about the 7:30 position on the logo plate. It was factory built as a 10E. But, before shipping out, it was upgraded to the ER. Hence the serial number of "ER 13927."

Based on your serial number, rbursek, it is a 10ER, not a 10E (also evidenced by the style of some of the parts). My other two 10ERs have serial numbers of 35630 and 39722 which are below your 56762. So that puts it well into 10ER territory.

Heath, that is almost what my #1 looked like, except the stamping in the silver area at 6:00 said R-24996, not ER-XXXXX
