For Bill Mayo - looking for current email address

Another SS owner from South Africa was looking for info on an old SS jointer and I recommended he contact Bill Mayo - unfortunately the email address I have for Bill (annbill.mayo@comcast.net) did not seem to be the right one! Bill, if you are reading this could you private message me a good one.

Meanwhile I am recommending to the other gentleman that he join this group!

He changed to this after having problems with comcast

Thanks, that is my correct Email and PayPal address. I must apologize for my infrequent responses to questions and Emails lately. I have been fighting Alzheimer for more than 2 years now. I got a new Alzheimer pill about a year and half ago that really helped me be able to work most days in my shop. It did little for the memory problems. However, I am slowly loosing my ability to quickly reason and think of quick solutions. I am finding it takes about 4 to 5 times longer now to arrive at a solid response and answer along with rebuilding equipment time. I am using check lists to rebuild and repair equipment but spend a lot of time making sure I have not forgotten a step. Most of the last 6 years of my memory has totally disappeared but I can remember actions I did from 2008 back to high school. I may need a word to trigger this memory but it appears to be holding up well. My overall health is very poor also as it takes around 25 pills a day for me to survive. I am still able to get a few hours several days a week in the shop to play with the Shopsmiths. I am still able to get an excellent day every week or so where my memory and ability to reason out problems appears normal and I can get a lot done on that day. I know my ability to continue to play with Shopsmiths is getting shorter each month but I am enjoying the time I do get. It may take me up to a week to respond some times or I may totally forget to respond. Please try contacting me again if no response in a week or so. I can only work on a few questions at any time so some may get dropped. I still have quite a collection of used parts if anyone is interested. I will keep trucking as long as I can.

God bless you Bill and thanks for all you do. And dare I say your Shopsmith work is probably helping you out just as much as the medication.

My 84 year old mom is dealing with dementia and we were told there is nothing to be done, no medication available. I need to look into this again.

Bill, please keep us updated as you progress down this challenging road as long as you can. I'm only 70 but I find I can't remember a book I read a year ago, or a movie I watched. The up side to this is I have a bunch of books that I'm sure I have already read, but I read them again and don't even know I have. I'm trying to stay as busy as possible in the hopes that it will prolong any futher memory loss. I'm still able to function as a computer programmer, but only by cloning some of my older programs, when I can remember what their names are and where I stored them

I have to write down everything in a notebook now. It's a good thing I don't have to remember anything to turn bowls or make jewelry boxes, it's all new to me and keeps my mind active.

I am very blessed to located near the dedicated Byrd Alzheimer Institute ( http://health.usf.edu/byrd/index.htm ). There are other local companies and hospitals dealing with this subject too but I have not had contact with them. The government has finally started funding a lot of grants locally in the past year to study this problem. I am starting to read about new ideas for different treatments along with techniques this year as a result of these grants. Several nationwide locations has started this year with studies using the pill Namenda 10 mg I got from my doctor over a year and half ago to see the effects it has on early onset of Alzheimer. There is quite a lot of Alzheimer material available on the internet. Recommend to your mom's doctor to look into this pill. It has a lot of Human Growth Hormone in it as I tested off the charts for it after I started taking it. My beard has to shaved almost daily vs every 3 days in the past. No other bad side effects that I have noticed. This pill gave me the energy and motivation to get back into my shop at that time but do not believe it provided any major memory improvements.

I truly believe playing with the Shopsmiths has made a major difference in helping me deal with this situation. I can only recommend that anyone reading this do not delay too long in putting together your dream work shop as we never know what the future may bring. Live life to its fullest and have fun while doing it. I have few regrets in this area as I have been truly blessed in so many ways.

Bill, like I've said before, you are one of the most inspiring members here. Hardly a day goes by, that you aren't in my thoughts and prayers, and I've never even met you.

You have done this community, as well as myself, a GREAT service, just by being here.

I lost my mother to brain cancer (glioblasoma multiforme) about 4 years ago, and have experienced what matters of the mind can do. (I also suffer from bouts of depression, so it's not just second-hand experience.)

I wish you have the chance to impart your vast wisdom to others while you still can, and from what I've read, you feel the same way.

Bill, THANKS for EVERYTHING you've done here!
