T-Slot Miter Channel Source

I'm building a router table for the 510. I have a miter gauge from a Mk. VII that I can use but am looking for a t-slot channel to use instead. SS price is a bit to high. Woodcraft (that once handled SS stuff) doesn't have anything. Is there another source?

How about using a key hole router bit and making the slot in the table top.

How about using a key hole router bit and making the slot in the top.

The toolsare out there if you really want to do it this way.

For me, I'll purchase the t-nuts and aluminum rails from Shopsmith. This may be a bit more expensive but it will, IMHO, also be a bit more reliable.

I think this is the same as what Dusty is saying regarding parts. A friend bought two of the miter channels that go in the bandsaw table (one wasn't long enough for the table he built). I think he said it was about $40, so I just checked. The channels are #516165 @ $16.21 each so with shipping, that would be close.

The only thing I use a channel for is to hold feather boards and in fact that is not all that often.

A sled against the fence is a much better solution as far as I'm concerned. I have not used a miter gauge for routing in 25 years......

If it were me I'd just skip the miter slot. Another option for you.
