Please help identify left over mark V part

I accidentally erased almost all my disassembly photos. So far there is only this one part I can't find a place for:
[ATTACH]24990[/ATTACH]

Any ideas? I can't find it on the exploded diagram either.
I had the whole thing apart except the quill shaft itself.

Looks like a 1980 penny to me.

Sorry, since I don't speak MkV, I could only add humour here.

I'd guess it is to retain a spring somewhere, since if it isn't under pressure the split washer would just drop out.

So that's what those look like. I think I heard you used to be able to use them for something, like buying gum?

Yeah.its the c shaped washer. I remember noting it as I took it out but no I what part. It fits around the speed control worm gear at the non-worm gear end, and even fits inside the recess on main speed control mount where the wworm gear passes through (like where the spring washer, washer and retaining clip go, but I don't think that if make any sense there.

Fitz, I just had my greenie HS apart, not the quill though and head stock lock, same with the goldie. I dont remember seeing that part at all.

You can examine it much better than we but I think it looks to be homemade. A modified flat washer. I do not believe it is an actual Shopsmith part!

Fitz, that looks too small to go on any of the drive shafts/spindles, except the HS locking and the exploded parts view does not show that on that assembly. Best I can do this morning! OBTW that penny needs some shine to it!

What is currently retaining the table height shaft at the rear? i.e. preventing the shaft from coming out the front.
