jointer fence height

Does anyone know how high the end of the jointer fence is permitted to rise above the outfeed table? Mine rises to about 1.25 inches. Is there a set limit?

IIRC it's about 1/8" to 1/4".

I do not have the expertise to tell you what is "too high" but I can tell you what mine measures.

At the infeed end there is a 1/8" gap the entire length of the infeed table. On the other side of the cutter head that gap increases to 1/2".

It is my opinion that the tell tale indication of a problem is whether or not that gap (both of them) are of consistent width the entire length.

Mine was not until I replaced the jointer fence quadrant.

Mine is similar to Beeg's dimensions. However it used to be higher until I 'corrected' the bent part(F).

My fence sits about like beeg's and JPG's. Had to replace the fence quadrant in order to get that height. Hard to straighten that thing.

The quadrant is easily distorted by tightening too much. I gotta remember that only a small amount of force is needed to secure the fence to the bar.

Shop 'inspection' caused a need to 'correct' what I said. When 'clamped' the fence just barely rests upon the infeed table. It has no clearance, but also is not bearing either.

Thanks Guys. I am the only owner of this one so I guess I am the 800 pound gorilla that caused the problem.
