Jewelry boxes

Thought I'd post pictures of the jewelry boxes I turned on my Shopsmith for my grand daughter. They were turned from one hunk of magnolia, the smaller cut from the inside of the larger one. (hate to waste wood) The larger one has a stained glass sun catcher in the lid, and a removeable tray, and separators. The dark wood is mahogany.
I hand carved a maple leaf for the insert on the smaller one and put clear epoxy over it. The finish is polyurethane.

Like the guys in the above posts said, this is very nice, beautiful work! Not only pretty, but shows your interest and passion for adding those special touches that add so much! Your talent shows!

I am confident your daughter will treasure these for years to come.

Isn't it amazing how a Shopsmith can be used, with some imagination, to turn a "Hunk" of wood into beautiful heirlooms?
