GE motor on a 10ER

Today I decided to install new bearings in a GE motor on a 10ER. I took it apart and found it had ND 3203 bearings. No problem, my cross reference says to use 6203 bearings. The OD fits perfect. But their to small in the ID. Not even close to fitting. Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions?

I find most of the 6000 series of bearings can have more than one different OD and/or ID for the same number. I find I have to use my digital calipers each time after I remove the bearing. I recommend removal of any bearing and measuring it before ordering a replacement.

Problem solved. I chucked the rotor in my lathe and turned the bearing surfaces down. Bearings fit great!

Got me? I just turned very little at a time until it felt like it would be a good press fit. Then I pressed the bearings on with my press, installed the rotor and end caps. Went together fine And runs sweet. Eyeballed the whole thing. I'm not positive the bearings I pulled out were the right ones. They just didn't seem right. But this motor will make a great low speed grinder for tool sharpening.
