A Blade in a Cutter Head.

It appears to me that your cutter head is either assembled differently than mine or that your cutter head (a greenie) is different with regard to how the blades are seated.

What I see may be an optical illusion (your first and second image). Is there space between your cutter blade and the body of the cutter head?

What appears to be incorrect? It is assembled the same as the one in the functioning jointer (I think).

My wedges are different but I think that was a design change in the wedge and that they are interchangeable. I cannot confirm that.

Dusty, sorry that looks right, that is how mine is, wedge in front of the blade, head to the rear for support.

If you look at Dustys last pic, I have 9/32nds from the cutter head to the heel of the bevel on the back side of the blade, seems WAY to much unsupported blade above the cutter head.

Do you have the infeed and outfeed tables set to be coplanar. Maybe what I am seeing (interpreting) incorrectly is with reference to the tables.

In my images the tables are set for about 3/32" cut (infeed lower than outfeed).

That would be a BINGO! No!!!! I also did not notice the views are from opposite ends.


See how helpful pix are!!! One who puts stuff together incorrectly is not likely to say so as clearly as a freakin pix.

FWIW my goldie version backside head periphery to bevel heel measures the same(5/16").

As for 'imbedding' pix in de post, add another step. After uploading up to 5 pix, go back to the 'reply to' screen and click AGAIN on the paper clip icon. Lo and Behold. a list of those uploaded files appears along with a link back to from whence you came(no not yer mama). Clicking on the file name or the 'all' button will transfer the attachments to the 'reply' at the current location of the cursor.(recommend pre positioning that!) The pix image will not appear in the reply screen, but some java stuff will. To 'see' the images in the post, go to preview. There all shall be revealed unto thee(but no one else yet; think of it as a private showing by invitation only). That gives you an opportunity to change it before anyone delse sees it. If you do not like the 'order' you can delete the pertinent java stuff and go back to the paper clip and again insert it(remember to pre position the cursor first).

If you need to delete the attachment and or replace it in the set of 5 go back to manage(remember that link mentioned above),delete it and browse for its replacement.

I dont know where the tables are at the moment to each other. The blades are set to a few .000+- of the out feed table, issue is why are they do high above the cutter head body to be almost flush at the top stroke with the out feed table. In feed table at this point is erelavent.

Rbursek look at the 3rd pic in your post #8 and Dusty's post #11. SEE the diff in the height of the adjustment screw? How WIDE are your blades?

Barely wide enough!

11/16" is the lower limit recommended.
