Dusty you need to send me an email on exactly what you did. My door is noisy, slams to the ground when closed and is a PITA. Don't want to waste time here discussing your potential solution.

I'd say it was the lube and tightening the bolts took stress off the system and allowed to work properly. Besides isn't this your work area? Sawdust where it shouldn't be, like in the remote?

Be suspicious of the up/down limit switches(assuming it has them!).

I'm suspicious of something but I don't know what. The garage door has reverted back to yesterdays symptoms.

The remote works to open the door but will not close it.

BTW Both remotes have new batteries and both worked yesterday so it is not programming.

Did it(when working properly) alternate direction each time the remote was pushed?

Dusty;
Sometimes the sensor that detects an obstruction when the door is closing will react to a change in spring tension or dirt in the system.
The fellow who bought my house in Pa had a symptom in which the door would go down if he held his finger on the down button but would go back up when he let go of the button. It turned our that the sensor light was misaligned. However the same thing might happen if the force required to move the door down has increased through dirt or grit getting in the tracks or rollers. Also if the light beam in the sensor becomes weak or is partially blocked this condition will also occur. You may want to increase the "down" force to see if it corrects the problem and also check for critters (spiders and such) nesting in the "obstruction sensor" housing. It may be necessary to strip the wires back an inch or so and restrip and reinstall them on the sensor.
Clean the lense on the sensor.

No wiring diagram.

I can't say what it did when I thought it was working with any certainty at all. All I know is that I never sensed anything being wrong until recently (last couple months).

I wiped them off and the amber and green lights are on. If I obstruct the beam, the green light goes out. The amber light stay on all the time.
