Whats inspiring you these days?
I watched an article on TV this morning on a guy who makes dulcimers in Tennessee I think it was. It was a good story. Dulcimers make such a sweet sound. Got thinking about making one but then got to thinking about a music stand. A music stand is more along my skills and time availability at the moment. Now I kinda want to make one of those even more.
What's inspiring everyone else these days?

Federal period
I just got through watching the multi-part video on FWW for making a Federal side table.
This idea keeps recurring with me - I recall an outstanding example in the magazine a few years ago - so I expect that period style to my inspiration.
I guess the inlays are holding me back because I have never tried that technique. I keep telling my self to try some 'when the current project is finished' but up comes another project.
Oh well, one of these days.

Spent a couple of days last week with the scraps from some cedar adirondack chairs I made our two sons and their wives for last Christmas. Ended up with a nice little chair and foot stool like his Mommy and Daddy's for our 2 year old grandson. Don't know for sure what the inspration was: my needing a useful purpose for the scraps, previous experience making chairs and foot stools, or, most probably, our little grandson. Anyway, turned out real nice and he seems happy with his chair and foot stool.

Not quite inspiration, but I find myself in the same boat as forrestb. Ever since I made my first table I have wondered if I could make the intricate little inlays of a Federal side table. This project remains on my un-writtin list of to-do things.
I have several magazines with articles on making such a table. All I need to do is to get the gumption to try a few inlays. Who knows, I might like them.
