Set on a desgin
I think I'm set on a design, the two drawer version. It's easier to make and the drawers hold more stuff. Here are the latest 4 that I just finished up today.

Taking my time now, I just spend a couple of hours every third day or so on these boxes.

More Blanks
I used my 1/2 " blade in my band saw to rough out 11 more blanks tonight. I used my 12" disk sander to smooth out all flat and curved surfaces. Next I will cut out the drawer plugs.

I'm going to stick with my 2 drawer version with this batch. I will then have 21 boxes, enough to give one to each family in both my wife's and my clans.

Cutting out Drawers

Draw out drawer shapes. Using my 3/16" saw blade.

Drawers all cut out.

Glue up entry points on block. Next I will work on the drawers. I'm getting the hang of these boxes, I will have 9 completed from this batch in a few days.

Numbering end plates and using rubber bands to keep everything together.

Now I will cut out the insides of the drawers next.

Finished with this batch
I have finally finished with my first batch of boxes. I have enough to give all families on both sides a box for Christmas this year. Now I'm going to experiment on some different designs and won't feel rushed to get them done.

Doing these 19 took almost as long as turning 60 bowls. If I was doing this for a living I would turn bowls and not make band saw boxes.

Fred, I'm amazed at the amount of times you're using your Cast Iron Shopsmith, as opposed to the newer stuff.
I'm also REALLY impressed by your work! That's nifty knitting, for a Parotthead! (Speaking of which, are you watching the live video broadcast of tomorrow's {later today's} show? Don't tell me you're going to it, unless you take pictures.)
I just realized something, the Shopsmith is only ONE year younger than Jimmy Buffett! (Well, the early model 10 stuff!)
