Because a word or phrase once deemed unobjectionable is now,is not Nazism, but a due recognition that our country's people are from many ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds.

I have followed this forum for a few years. The ShopSmith information is quite good. However, the diatribe against other Americans is foolish. There are other forums available to proclaim one's political views.

Shopsmith owners are not all white Americans.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Nothing written suggested that Americans or SS users are all white. My diatribe was about people looking to be offended and the engorgement getting into the fray. Anyone can choose to be offended. I've chose not to at an early age; two examples: Fired from my first job at a movie theater because I seated a black couple downstairs instead of in the balcony "where they belonged." I was a "Nigra loving young snot and you won't work in this theater." The second was when I was in USMC boot camp and some honkey (white for those who don't know about that insulting word) asked where I was from. When I said Texas he slugged me, cussed me and accused me of being a N hating bigot. Actually, he wasn't that articulate. I chose to walk away. If you choose to not be offended no one can offend you.

So, having said that, if you can tell me specifically what I wrote that so offended you I will evaluate it and if an apology is appropriate it will be forthcoming. If it doesn't happen neither will an explanation of why.

I might add, if it offends you don't read it or on TV turn it off. Or even better, do as my sister-in-law does when she gets any inflammation that doesn't present Obama as God-on-Earth: She has notified every relative, except one daughter, to never send her an email again. Now that is a solution. Don't consider anything other than what is your preconceived notion.

My advice is to listen to all views. Consider each and keep an open mind. You might learn something and change your perspective. Miracles do happen. That's why I asked for what you found offensive. I might learn something.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.

Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Sadly, I'm not old enough (at 56) to remember that. In my memory, the "news" has always had a slant, in one direction or the other.

However, it's gotten MUCH worse. And, from BOTH sides.

Since I first learned to read (around 70 years ago) I've been a voracious consumer of the news.
Until recently, we've had a relatively few news outlets from which to choose. Now, with the advent of cable channels and the internet, an information explosion is at our fingertips. Each outlet has it's own biases and opinions and it has become a lot easier to discern the differences.
But one thing hasn't changed. One is still obligated to sift the wheat from the chaff and make his or her own judgments. Some fail to recognize that obligation and yet still rail against the wind.

DB5, that was WI, (Wisconson) not WWI. (But yes, WWII was right, too.)
