If you wonder why these are so dangerous, watch this starting at 1:50.

It isn't the saw that's dangerous. It's the careless/unskilled operator.beatnik wrote:If you wonder why these are so dangerous, watch this starting at 1:50.![]()

Kinda like the guy that was using the table saw free hand with no fence or miter gage. When he lost part of his hand, he successfully sued the mfr.

Why not keep it intact and have yourself a great saw? I have a RAS and I would not sell it for $100, so your logic seems odd to me.beatnik wrote:Picked up a radial arm saw with a little dust collector for 125 this weekend. I had done research and already knew I was going to claim 100 for the recall on the saw when I bought it, making the cost for the collector all of 25 bucks. Already got the recall tag on it's way this morning.
To me a RAS is safer than an a table saw in many operations. In some operations unless you use it correctly and have all the safety equip installed it can be dangerous, but so can a tablesaw.

I have a Craftsman Radial Arm Saw I bought under similar circumstances.
I installed the new guard and handle that came with the recall kit but not the table.
For what I use it for It works great. I have no intention of getting rid of it unless a run across a good deal on a Dewalt.
