To prevent rust I keep my spare saw arbors and lathe drive centers and such in pill containers. They are virtually air tight and you can get them for free at most senior citizen facilities.:D

just wondering...

what's the protocol concerning build/restore threads... put it totally in its own thread or leave it where it's at and continue on..?

Like everything else here, whatever one thinks there is someone else who will feel differently.

I enjoy the rebuild threads and it is nice to have them be contiguous from start to finish. It is so much easier to refer back to later.

Sounds good. I think I shall do its own thread.

Thanks

What's protocol?:D

Consider yer 'audience'.

If it is gonna be long, sticking to the topic is best(not that that will happen:rolleyes:).

If really really long break it up but have a 'top' thread that links to the others and vice versa.

Pay close attention to the 'title' of each thread and refer to it the same.

At least that is what I have evolved into doing(trying at least).

For a sample of a wip. https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=11984

another question,

do ya all do anything special to the tube mounts before putting the tubes back in? like knock off rust, lubricant, grease, or leave it alone...?

thanks
