Belt sander "T" slot

Any reason the table on the belt sander does not accept the miter-gage with the "t" slot washer installed?

Well, the obvious answer is that the belt sander table does not have the "T" slot machined in it.

Seriously though, the sander table is cast iron (same as the old Mark V 500, which I believe does not have the "T" slot either?) Maybe that was part of the reason that SS went to an aluminum table? Any way, if you take the washer off the miter bar, it will work. Looking through my literature, the only thing that I can find to mount in the belt sander table slot is the sharpening jig. Anybody know of any other use for the slot?

I use the miter gauge on the belt sander frequently. Just sorta "back it in" and you have full range of motion.

But, I don't have an answer to your question. I don't know why the table does not have a t-slot.

My guess is the table is of the old design and they never gave it an upgrade.
No big deal. Just wondering if there was a reason of some sort like safty issues or the like. I understand the washer can be removed but I know if I remove it, I will never see it again. LOL!!!

Try using Nick's idea of a metal dish with a magnet, or just a magnet to hold both the washer and the screw for it.

Another way I do it is to buy a spare. Then you never lose the original.

But we do know that we can still use the miter gauge on the belt sander without removing the washer - don't we?
