3/4 hp is more than enough for a bandsaw or belt sander. Actually it is overkill IMHO.
The Gilmer belts are still available from SS.
The down side to the Gilmer, is that the quill is different. Newer quills will not fit.
They can be converted/upgraded to poly-v, but that is expensive(idler sheave, main shaft, quill are all replaced).
I would not hesitate if the $ is right.

Now we are talking. Second unit already way to go. Make it a shorty or even a mini and start looking for your third one . Do a search for shorty or mini and have some fun. Yes the 3/4 hp motor will be fine if it is in good working condition. If the belts are good go for it. Check the power chord they get brittle after this long. Easy repair on the cord. You are hooked ! Welcome to the forum these are the people to ask. GO FOR IT !

2cents,
Yes I have seen the shorties. They seem to be on ebay continually. I have considered purchasing one there.
While they are cool, space isn't a premium for me. Yes I am fortunate in that area. My "hobby shop" is 30 x 100. LOL
If I need more space, I'll have to pull another snowmobile out. That is my limiting factor, too many snowmobiles. If I follow suit with that many shopsmiths, please commit me in the "hoarder rehabilitation program".
Well verbally a deal has been made. It may take me a while to pick it up as it is about 150 miles from me, but it is only about 20 miles out of my way to go see family.
My family is always "amazed" at what I bring by...... LOL
