When I installed the pp upgrade I was cautious I watched the video for each step just before doing it to be sure it was fresh in my mind.
I enjoyed doing it a lot and did not get frustrated but if I would have I'd a just stopped and rested and relaxed before going on.

I am willing to bet that the solution to this problem will be a simple one. There are but a few places to look. The 1) power cord (68) which connects to the 2) switch (89) which then connects to 3) the Power Supply Assembly (114).

It seems to me that the Power Supply Assembly will connect to the Control Panel (113) and will also connect to the Motor (108).

Unless you have received a defective Power Supply Assembly or a defective Control Panel Assembly, these five connection points are the only possible contributors to your problem.

The strongest symptom is that you have NOTHING HAPPENING when you turn on the switch.

NOTHING tells me that you most likely have no AC power to the Power Supply Assembly. If you had AC power to the Power Supply Assembly, it would produce the power that activates the Control Panel. Since nothing happens on the Control Panel, my bet is no power to the Control Panel which brings me back to the Power Supply Assembly. Can you measure this AC power (do you have the means and is the connection accessible).

I don't have and have not worked on a PowerPro Headstock. Since I don't know what is accessible and what is packed away in unreachable locations, I can offer nothing more to resolve your dilemma.

My first effort would be to confirm that there is power to the Power Supply Assembly. This would be switched AC power.

If you have switched AC power then the only other factors that you can do anything about is to verify that all of the connectors are securely attached. Beyond that it seems that this is a task for Shopsmith.

My money is on a poor connection. Second place money goes to an inoperative Power Supply Assembly.

Trying to understand the difficulties in troubleshooting a No Power problem in the PowerPro.

Can anyone identify the connectors that are shown in this photo image.

I see two with no wires connected (right by the yellow block). Are these the two wires that go to the on/off switch?

I also see two connection points that have connectors attached. Are these the two wires that go to the motor?

I see a ribbon cable coming off the Control Panel. Are all connections to the control panel in the ribbon cable? Is the ribbon cable connection to the Control Panel shown in this image?

Is the white block to the right side of the image a wire terminal?

The million dollar question: Are any of these points accessible in a fully assembled PowerPro?

When I did the "do it yerself" Power Pro a couple months ago, I got it all together and ... Nothing...
Trust me, tearing it back down, finding the problem (mine was the end of that ribon cable had come loose), Putin' it back together , does not take any where as long as that first , tentative put together.

Yesterday I was disc sanding some parts and just broke out in a big grin because it was so quiet, and I could change the speed one rpm at a time if I wanted to. Hadn't known the sound of wood against the disc sandpaper with the old power supply.
Take a deep breath and dig in... It's gonna be easier than you think.

Just reading this, maybe ?
The power supply is next. Install the 4 tinnerman clips on the four ears with the screw side in or round hole outside. Now the video shows installing/connecting all the wiring with the power supply loose. We actually installed the front screws first and that allowed us to pivot up the power supply and attached the wires easily holding the power supply secure. There are three connections 2 spades and one larger plug. The whit spade goes to the switch next to the white wire and the black goes next to the black wire. Now plug the last one into the back of the control panel. We then secured the rear portion of the power supply. There is a black wire retainer clip include in your kit. This is used to secure the power cod and prevent it from being yanked out. This simply snaps over the wire and the folded back ground wire. We secure this using one of the screw that secures the rear of the power supply.

As I read this, I come to the conclusion that the wires to the motor and the wires to the switch are not shown in this image.

Apparently, I experienced the same issue as Billdit did... After a good night's sleep I started in at 9am to tear it back down and confirm all the connections including replacing the on/off switch with the one that came with the upgrade (even though my existing one worked fine). Once I removed the power supply I found that the ribbon cable to the keypad had come loose in the tight quarters.

I reconnected it and watched it very carefully as I reassembled the remaining components, giving it one last check with a long flat-tipped screwdriver against the back of the connector before installing it back on to the headstock tubes. This cable connection appears to be a possible "gotcha" that future DIY'ers need to pay very close attention to.

Once reassembled to the initial power application step, I was rewarded with the faint tones of success coming from the keypad upon plugging it in and setting the on/off switch to the "on" position. I picked up the remaining tasks at that point and successfully completed the upgrade.

Not quite the experience I was expecting but at least it's completed. As others have remarked, definitely quieter that before. The performance waits to be seen.

Billdit and Hennecle: Does the ribbon cable not lock in place when properly installed? If there is nothing to "capture" the ribbon cable connector, is it possible (likely) that it will work loose with exposure to normal vibration?

Has anyone who has successfully completed the installation of a PowerPro Headstock (DIY or otherwise) later experienced this particular failure mode?

Knowing what you know now, could you have detected the loose connector without any tear down? More importantly, could you have properly reconnected it?

Dusty, I know you have said you don't have a PowerPro. Therefor we can excuse your questions.
To avoid any confusion--
The pic in post 13 is a cut-away view inside the power module. The PM is sealed. Opening it voids warranty.
