Mark II... and virtually no one has anything good to say about them. Which might explain the state this one is in.

The early manufacturers used 10, 5, 2. With the Mark VII roman numerals began. Magna American apparently could not make up it's mind so both VII and 7 appears on them. The '7' only appears on one small plate. No documentation differs from VII.

BTW there were a couple of Mark 1s made.

Along comes Shopsmith Inc. and more Mark 5s were made. With the introduction of the '510' etc. came a perceived need to change to Mark V and refer to the earlier design as a 500.

All the current SS Inc.(etc) 'propaganda' ignores the previous model designations.

Having Greenie and Goldie nick names helps with determination of what a particular machine is. Why the current manufacturer ignores(does not propagate) the true history is to me a mystery. I cannot believe it is due to total ignorance.

Now that the 'new' Mark 7 is 'out', the confusion becomes more prevelant.
