New feather board

Post by JohnSWA »

Well... to me anyway. I just won the bid on this feather board on ebay for $14 bucks. I hope it fits my Mark V 500.

Still looking for a rip fence though. Man the folks on Ebay are proud of those things. Can't find one for under $40! Maybe that's a good price?

There's one on eBay right now for 20 bucks, buy-it-now.

I like to click on the "sold listings" filter under "Show only" whenever I'm buying an item for the first time. It gives you a much better idea of the real market price. The asking prices don't mean much, because the high-priced ones usually don't sell. It appears that $20 is about right for a Mark V 500 fence.

If you can afford to be patient, you can usually get a much better than average price. Sooner or later, odds are that a bunch of the same item will be listed at one time. Supply exceeds demand, temporarily, and you can pick up a real bargain after the first few sell.

There are a few for $20 give or take. Problem is the shipping is $20 or close to it. I'll be patient and do some not so critical cuts until I find a decent price on a rip fence.

Yup, I forgot to check the shipping costs. Duh! :o

Have you checked your local Craigslist? Here's a bunch of goodies near me for $40, including the rip fence. Looks like someone upgraded to a new table, and is selling all the model 500 stuff cheap.

Oh yeah! Always checking Craig's list. Maybe I should buy another SS just for the rip fence! Lots of good deals. I'm sure my wife would understand! LOL! Oh the possibilities!
