Wow I wonder who the salesman was that sold in the Wis/Minn area was. He was good. In our area we may get a Shopsmith once a week or two nothing like that.

Ya, I looked at some FL cities last night, and saw what they were asking on them!!! They want to be able to retire on the sale.

In the Minneapolis listing there is one from June 28 for $150. It is for a 10ER and while not great at that price, what makes it special is the jointer and the special bracket (which is rare). 10ER fans take note

I'd love to get my hands on the Shopsmith table saw! Just too long a drive for me from MA. :( :(

That was exactly what I was thinking!! I see a few that I would be interested in if closer to our Florida area.

It must be supply and demand.

Another reason so many Shopsmith units are for sale up north is most are bought when the purchaser is working and has expendable income.
When they retire and move south they usually sell off everything to keep the move as simple as possible. If the Shopsmith is in the south already it probably won't get sold off during a retirement move.

Plus I believe back in the day there was a lot more expendable income up in the north manufacturing belt than there was in the south. That may have shifted since it seems like a lot of professionals have made the move south and conduct business electronically.

I have a buddy that has a job similar to the one I had. I worked in a 10,000 person complex where he works from home in rural Georgia, with his manager in Calf his 2 peers scattered over the US and while overseeing a group in Brazil.

Times have changed big time.
