Opinion on use of JessEm Stock Guides on SS

Just watched a video on the JessEm 'Clear Cut(TM)' stock guides. Although touted for use with router tables, I think they might be a very nice addition to my SS 520 in table saw mode (i.e. with the JessEm mounted to the rip fence).

They offer good visibility, are easy to adjust, pull the work piece snug up against the fence, have 'uni-directional' bearings and are not too terribly expensive. Plus I can easily switch them over to the router table.

Your thoughts and opinions??

Just took a quick look at them. They rotate in only one direction. I can see how they look like they would work pretty well with a router table I'm not sure if one would want to use them for sawing.

How ever they do make a version for the table saw.

I have not priced them yet but by looking at them I have a feeling that they are not cheap....

Price of the TS version is list of $279.99, intro price $249.99. Can't say that is a good deal or not but from location I went to that was the prices.

The router one is $99.95.

These appear to do the same thing and are $63. These are for a table saw but I think they also make them for routing.

Thanks to the link for the JessEm table saw version - looks very nice and I can see why it costs so much extra. Very, very nice but I don't know if I need all the justifiability. And I couldn't switch it over (easily) to my router table.

OK, let's be truthful here. I would love to have both but that isn't going to happen. And the price for the table saw version is a bit (ha!!) more expensive.

The one that Woodcraft (among others) sells is of the same general stripe as the JessEm router version but (IMHO) is bulkier. It is less expensive but not so much that I would automatically reject the JessEm router version.

The JessEm router version strikes me as a darned good option and I can easily use it with my router table also. And possibly (with mods) on my 6" jointer. And I really, really would like to have a better way to hold and guide wood through the table saw. Right now I use a multitude of finger boards. Anyways it is on my radar now.

They look like feather boards with wheel bearings with rubber tires. Are they spring loaded?

I don't think so. I watched the video (on the JessEm website) and it looks like the only 'spring' is the rubber action of the tires. The table saw version probably has some 'spring' due to the shaft bending in torsion.

I will certainly post when (and if) I get them. Probably won't be for 3-4 months before the budget allows. Lots of other 'stuff' that sits a bit higher in the list!!

Kinda funny that their videos keep cutting away as the push stick is about to have an issue wih the rollers. In the way.
