Rubber-bonded abrasive wheel

I bought a 1953 Shopsmith a while back and now am getting around to checking out all the stuff i got with it. What do you use a rubber-bonded abrasive wheel for? It has the writing of( max rpm of 3450 with acc.no 22140 art. no. 84-3448, Made especially for SHOPSMITH by CRATEX MANUFACTURING CO.)5/26/08 1:52pm colorado time.

I could not find a use for it so I sold it on eBay for more then I paid, so I guess it is for making a profit.:D

Seriously, it came with a grinding shield and I guess it is for honing chisels but since Shopsmith stopped selling it a long time ago I guess it was not popular.

thanks for the reply. i thought the same that it was for honing but was not sure.
