Do you mean it attaches to the motor shaft? I've searched online and can't seem to find the jointer manual. Does anyone have access to that and could perhaps post a copy?

Thanks, that is very helpful. The only thing I'm a little unsure of is the pulley that came with mine is probably 9 or 10" and has 1853 and 1953 embossed on it. Here is a link to a picture of it.http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af1 ... /Pully.jpg

I've never seen the jointer motor pulley first hand, but I don't think that is the original Shopsmith part. But if it works, it works!

Thanks again. I'm going to go to my dad's and search for other parts like the 5" pulley that are probably lurking around in his garage. Thankfully (or not) he never throws anything away. He is 87 and in poor health (cancer) and I'm trying to help him organize the crazy amount of tools he has acquired through the years.
Since I already have a shaper and a great table saw I am toying with the idea of just setting this 10er up as a drill press/lathe. If I do I think I will sell the jointer and headrest in order to finance repairing the motor etc. What do you guys think a fair asking price would be for that? Seems like some folks may want to add that on, and I would need to trade out the standard headrest to convert mine back as part of that deal.

I do not think the '1853' is a SS part.

Good catch, JPG. I thought he had taken the pulley off and that was it in the linked to picture. But closer examination of the 10ER picture shows it's a different pulley.
