Parts Given to me!!

Post by joedw00 »

:) Here are some pictures of parts for I beleive maybe a 510. A friend called and said her mothers Shopsmith had gotten stolen from storage before she could ever use it. They did not get all of it. She ask if I would like to have what was left. When she opened the trunk, I could not get the boxes to the shop fast enough. Is there some where I can find something on how to use the MAXI-CLAMPS? Some of it I won't be able to use because I have a 520. Just had to share this, it does not happen ever day.:)

You said you have the 520. What do you plan to do with the floating tables that go to the 510?

The Maxi-clamps are just threaded rods with quick release knobs and some hardware, you can configure them any way to want depending on where you need to apply pressure.

I haven't figured out what I am going to do with what I can't use. I just got it yesterday.

Hi Joe! What a wonderful gift! Recommend you keep everything. You could always use the floating tables as they are, and use the 510 fence on them. Or you could call SS and order 520 rails for them. You could use the floating tables and support legs to make an infeed table, You could even use the tables and the fence toward a conversion of your 10er to a 510. The other items look usable from time to time. Lots of possibilities!

You will never have enough clamps.

How long ago did they buy the Shopsmith? By the looks of some of the parts, they could be at least 10-years old or older.

Guess it sat in storage for a while. I wouldn't be in to much of a hurry to get rid of anything. You can upgrade the tables to a 520 and you will have one heck of machine with all the extra support you will ever need.

Well I was not as fortunate as you were but I did run into a deal on an online auction here in Michigan. I bought a Mark V 510 with the Belt sander, Ultra Fence System, the pre-drilled floating table, Right angle Fixture ,repeat positioner, Universal Lather tool rest, Ring Master ,Biscuit Jointer, Speed Increaser, Sharpening Guide Kit and the Table System Kit along with several extra parts for the shop smith for $581.00. I couldn’t get down to get it fast enough! I’d been looking at a Shopsmith for quite some time but I do have several questions. I also got the maxi-clap system but it didn’t come with the threaded rods. Most of the other pieces were still in the boxes and had never been opened. I’m assuming that I can get the threaded rods in my local hardware store but was wondering about the different lengths? Also, What would I use the Speed increaser for? Routing? Or the biscuit Jointer? Not sure how the Right Angle fixture and the Repeat Positioner work yet either. I may need the optional fence for my miter guage?

Move slow in making a decision to get rid of anything. I didn't see anything that couldn't have a purpose in your 520 based shop.

The tables can all be upgraded by purchasing new rail kits. The 510 rip fence can also be repurposed. I dismantled mine and used the parts for a fence on my sliding cross cut table.

Woodburner: You asked: "How long ago did they buy the Shopsmith? By the looks of some of the parts, they could be at least 10-years old or older."

I'm curious. What do you see in any of these photos that dates the parts other than the 510 fence.
