That will not fit on the rear shaft as he intends to use it.
Hence the risk tolerance reference.

Since I have a 2nd Mk VII now, maybe I can put the sharpening stone on the front shaft of the 2nd unit, and keep the 1st unit a dedicated lathe. Is there a list of item(s) that can go on the rear shaft?
Sanding disc or sanding drum... maybe the band saw I want....
Now that I have 2 units, I think I need to name them. Tweedledee and Tweedledum lead my favorites list.

Usually a coupling hub is attached so as to quickly connect SPTs. However any thing with a 5/8" bore etc. is fair game. Recall Charlese's double drill chuck/sanding setup?

An option. Not sure it is the best one. To be very useful, a tool rest for the grinder is needed. Although it turns faster, the idler shaft is not very accessible.
The rotating shafts are there, the rest is up to your noodle processing.
The lathe stuff will be on the other end of the headstock.
