Diana and I were sorting some junk out of a building near the back of the house this evening when her phone rang. It was one of her 4 brothers (4 brothers and 3 sisters) who called to tell her that her oldest brother had been taken to a hospital about 1.5 hours east of here. A short time later she called another brother who was at the hospital and he told her that their brother had passed...
He was in generally good health and it was quite unexpected. He was 75 and is the first of the 8 siblings and 7 spouses to pass. A year ago I thought it was maybe going to be me but I may now be one of the more healthy of the group.
He and his wife had been on a camping trip which was likely planned to be the last one this year. He always liked to get his 5th wheel trailer put to bed for the winter by about now.
While most of us in the group were into woodworking at one level or the other he was the most serious one and made a lot of very nice pieces, many of which he sold. He had just a few years ago finally got his new woodshop he always wanted built and finally was getting down to all of those little details that a lot of us tend to put off until "one of these days..." He had a woodshop before but it was a too small room for many of the pieces he made, in the basement and no room to expand it much at all. His new shop is about the size of a 2 car garage I guess but no big doors other than an about 42" walk door.
He will be greatly missed. Diana's siblings and their spouses are more than extended family, they are very good friends.

I am sorry Francis.

I too lost a brother about 2 weeks ago. It is something we all know will happen, but you are never prepared for it.

If you need a "kindred spirit" to talk to shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the comments.
I had to cut my first post short due to some family members arriving.
The reason I had posted about this was to encourage members here that may be postponing many things that they want to do to not get too deeply into the habit of pushing the fun stuff back until tomorrow... We have no idea just how many tomorrows we will have... Or how many tomorrows our family and friends will have.

First my condolences to you and your whole family.

Second no truer words were spoken, we have no guarantee of tomorrow.

I agree never put off until tomorrow what you can do today, you may not have tomorrow.

But I also must admonish all of us.

Make sure you know where you will spend eternity.

Make sure you know Jesus!

Saying that may upset some, I hope and pray that it doesn't but I would be found lacking if I didn't say it.

Francis, my thoughts go out you and the entire family. Sounds like you have a very close family so hope you can all gather strength from each other. Anytime we have a loss it always extremely hard on everyone. Hang together and draw strength from you faith, and your family.
