Problems withe new washers for quill feed
Ive gotten the new washers PN 523093 to replace PN 50163.
Problem is they go so deep into the case that they are useless.
It seems that something is stopping the shaft from going all the way in.
The sleeve PN 501318 is set back from the outside edge of the case 0.28", as well as the retaining ring on the opposite side of the case is not butting up to the case. All other parts are in place as well as the spherical washer behind the sleeve is in and the bubble side is facing the front against the sleeve. Any help would be appreciated, photos attached.

You need to determine what that 'something' is that is preventing the quill assembly from going all the way into the headstock.
On the quill lock side, the bore is 1" and the sleeve and spring washer slightly less so they are supposed to slip into the bore. The wingnut is maybe a bit more. It is the movement of the sleeve against the domed washer and internal ear that provides the locking action, not the exterior area around the quill lock bore.
If the assembly is not hitting something inside the headstock, there may be an interference inside the spring housing.

It sounds like you are missing the spherical washer (53) or someone used a regular washer to replace it. Some spherical washers are made from machined steel while most were stamped steel and was thinner. I find the quill lock handle (76) can push the spring washer (75) into the headstock along with the beginning of the quill lock handle hub before locking the quill.

Did you place the spherical washer between the sleeve and the casting?
Is the woodruff key fully seated and in line with the shaft?
Hate to say this. but a pix might prove helpful. That requires dropping the motor pan.

I will be happy to mail you a spherical washer, just sent me an Email with your address. I have been able to remove the quill feed assembly after removing the quill and not dropping the spherical washer. Just be real careful as you lift out the shaft keeping it in the lower part of the hole. I place the spherical washer where the feed handle indents are and then carefully put the shaft end inside the headstock casing into the opposite quill feed assembly hole. The dome of the spherical washer faces outward. The new spring washer looks to have too big an OD from looking at the pictures, It must be able to go inside the headstock casing hole. You could add any addition flat washer on the outside of the spherical washer if needed to keep the quill feed sleeve end outside the casing hole when tighten.

Bill--thank you. I solved my problem by outing a flat 1 in x 0.75" (ID) flat washer against the housing. The spherical washer sits against this flat washer and the quill stays put when the quill lock is tightened.
