In the past I have lamented the fact that my SS jointer width is only 4 inches.
I considered Bill Mayo's suggestion that the Total Shop 6 inch jointer fits the SS but I agree that it is too heavy for me for repeated on/off.
I made a torsion box fixture (ala FWW) but found that it is most useable on thick long boards. My thin boards were not stable enough going through the 12 inch SS planer.
I ran across a technique on the web for using a "narrow" jointer to flatten boards that are wider. I tried it on two 6 inch wide by 2 inch thick boards on my 4 inch SS jointer and it works very well. Both boards now have sides that are perfectly parallel (as far as I can measure the four corners on each are +/- 1/128 and the faces show flat under a straight edge).

I agree. Mattheis uses his hands, not push blocks, in the video, but I do even with thick stock. Something else between my fingers and the blades is comforting.
This guy must make money doing videos. I don't know how he can build such intricate fixtures, make videos, and hold down a job.

It could be that Mathias got the idea from you, Chuck. Just last night I was looking at some pics of his workshop, and he he does have some Shopsmith equipment in it.
