Jointer Fence Question

Post by megastevo81 »

Hi All

I have bought a Magna 4E jointer...i hope this is the right model to go with my 10E There is no fence with it, I probably rushed into buying it but I had the money and it looked to be in good condition. My question is are the fences a universal fit or what are my chances of finding a original fence for it for sale?

Thanks

Marty

The 4E jointer is indeed the model designed for the 10E & 10ER.

The fence on my 4E is identical to the one on my 2004 SS jointer, with a few minor exceptions:
1. The auxiliary-fence mounting holes are in different spots.
2. It doesn't have mounting holes for the coupler guard.
3. The locking handle and bolt are a different style.

I hope that you got the jointer mounting kit along with the 4E. If not, they are pretty hard to find. The instructions for that kit can be downloaded here. As I understand it, if you accidentally let the 4E drop into its stowed position, the resulting impact can break the special headrest. Many have been destroyed, and as Steve would say, "they aren't printing them anymore."

Thanks for that. There is a fence on ebay that is for a greenie (by the description) that I was hoping would fit. The jointer i got does have the mounting kit, just not the pin it hinges on. Didn't think this would be much of a problem to replicate. Being in Australia the parts seem to be pretty difficult to find
