Second try to make a bowl

Second try to make a bowl
Here are the results of trying to make a Fruit Bowl. I used poplar wood that I had on hand. The poplar board was 5 quarter and was ripped into 4 inch widths. So the glueup of the smaller boards looked like a stack of 2X4s made into a 12"X 12" blank.
This was also my first try of using a bowl gouge.
Sorry - the bowl on its pedestal looks a lot better when turned right side up. I thought I had this fixed but obviously not.

Re: Second try to make a bowl
Looks great. Can't wait so see it finished. Seems like it would make a nice light fixture as well

Very nice !
Re: Second try to make a bowl
That's your second bowl or second attempt at that specific bowl?
I was too embarrassed to let my fireplace see my first attempt!
I've really got to get with a local turner and get an hour lesson. Local group isn't that local.
Beautiful form.

Re: Second try to make a bowl
I think I see a power pro peeking out. Did the lower range help a lot? And do you have the universal tool rest? Just curious, neither are in range of my budget.
Re: Second try to make a bowl
This is really impressive! What are the overall dimensions and width depth of the bowl itself.

Re: Second try to make a bowl
Did you actually undercut the rim as drawn?
Good job BTW!
No UTR evident.
