There is a guy on the Yahoo forum that years ago posted pictures of an arrangement he made that provides both an infeed and outfeed table.

Basically it is two aluminum U channels about 6 feet long that hook on the connector tubes. Across these two channels he places both a infeed and outfeed table.

I'm E-mailing the guy pleading with him to post his idea on this forum. He has great pictures and even a short video of him setting up his tables. They were on the Yahoo site but then the owner of the site shutdown the external photo section and now the photos and video aren't there.

I think the guy that came up with the idea will post on this forum he is already registered. I just don't know when

In any case with his idea what you end up with is a main table that is about 6feet long you have about 3 feet in front of the blade and another 3 feet behind the blade. There is not supports or anything else used to except the two channels and two boards that go between them. You can tilt the whole thing for bevels. It is simply a slick idea and very nicely excuted.

If the guy won't post here I'm asking him for permission to post some of his pictures myself.

Would it be possible to just manufacture the extension table brackets out 2x4's? $80 seems kinda steep for some basic milled aluminum.

Certainly, it is possible. You don't even need to use 2x4 material. BUT, will it remain straight and how heavy will it be.

Eighty dollars?? I don't know which outfeed table would be $80 worth of aluminum. Not mine.

That's fair. Understand I just bought a used mark V for $350 and fixed it up myself, so $80 is a huge investment by comparison. I'll certainly consider buying these brackets since they simplify the whole solution.

I know your previous design allowed the table to fold down when not in use. Do these brackets allow you to do the same?

Just to verify what is being discussed here. This is the set of brackets that Shopsmith sells and the fold away/drop down outfeed table is NOT what they were designed for. I have a pair that I very seldom use anymore. I made my own for the outfeed table.

This is a sketch of the brackets that I made from aluminum angle. The brackets are much larger than they need to be. Total overkill.
