Mark V not used in over 6 years
Hi, my sister is giving me her old MarkV which hasn't been used in over six years.
Q1: what to do to it first.
Q2: she says the high speed doesn't work, any ideas? It worked before she moved it cross country 30 years ago.
Thanks

Clean up the inside of the headstock while your oiling it. Can ya post a pic through the maint. hole of the pork chop. Do an alignment on all of the tables. Ya just might need to do a high speed adjustment.

Need more 'details' re "high speed doesn't work".
Make sure it all rotates by hand prior to turning the motor on.
Oil Oil Oil the movable sheaves.
The 'best' thing is to tear it down, clean and reassemble, but you are not likely to be considering that yet. I presume you just want to get it running, then decide near term activity.
Some pix will help us get you through this.

Thanks.
We will get it cleaned up, oiled up, aligned, make sure everything turns and then fire it up and see what happens.

We got it cleaned, oiled. My husband used the sander disk on low no problem. Today we turned it on (on low) the sander disk was turning. Turned it to high it stopped turning. Now when we turn it on low again it does not power the sanding disk.

Remove the sanding disk.
'Fast' is waaaay to speedy for a sanding disk.
Need to determine what is not working correctly.
I be suspicious a belt broke.
Motor running at startup?

There may be other problems(or some things about to become so).
Added oil to sheaves?
