New Addition

Post by kablerj »

Just made a deal for this "just unpacked" 1989 510 anniversary edition and band saw. He was asking $1,200. I emailed him yesterday that it was a fair price, but he should consider keeping it and joining the gang, but if he was dead set on selling it, I could afford to go $800. He replied that he wanted to wait through the weekend before taking a lower offer.

Then today he emailed me "Well its not the end of the week yet but I have decided that if you would still like to purchase the Shopsmith for the $800 which was your original offer, I would be willing to sell to you. I like the fact that you seem to be a Shopsmith enthusiast and that the machine would finally be put to the use it was built for."

I pick it up in the morning.

My oldest happened to be here when I got the email. I told him "I don't know how your mom is going to take this." About an hour later he was back with $610 that all the boys had kicked in to help cover it.

When I told Bonnie, she laughed and teared up a little. :)

The pickup went smooth as silk, as did the Mark V. Everything was there. All of the accessories were still in the original box. :) :) :)

Turns out it is a 2002, not a 1998.

Actually, I spoke too soon. When I got to setting it up, we did find some parts missing. I contacted the seller. He is going to have them for Bonnie's cousin to pick up since he lives nearby. The seller is a really nice fellow, and I feel confident that he will follow through..
