It has been a very long slow process but I have finally completed the restoration of my 10E S/N 1839. When I started out i didn't realize how involved it would be. There was alot of searching the pages here
. Thank you so much to everyone for their information and shared experiences with their restorations. Here is a bunch of pics I took as I worked my way through it. Please forgive me tho as some pics I have already put on here from when I first purchased it but thought I would put everything into one post.
I am still missing a couple things, like the quill feed handle as it was quite bend and missing the knob from the end, I haven't decided if ill make a resin ball for the end or a polished aluminum ball. Almost all the bolts that were in the machine were extremely rusty and beyond polishing, these were all replaces with polished acorn nuts.
Way tubes were sanded/polished in a similar manor as others have posted on here. I fitted rubber plugs to the metal lathe and used it to slowly spin the tubed to remove surface rust.
The motor was worn out and needed a rebuild, not cheap but wow very impressed with how smooth it runs.
I still want to get a table raising arm and pulley cover. I have a second machine that came with a speed changer, that machine is most likely going to become a dedicated drill press for a time as it still runs well. I bought a 4e jointer which was damaged in transit. The tab the table raising handle sits in was snapped off, not too sure of my chances of repairing it
The bench was made from oregon left over from a 2nd hand carport I bought and reassembled out back.
I'm very proud of this machine and cant wait to use it.
