Shop Classes

Post by kablerj »

I recently posted about new equipment in my sons shop class at school. http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewt ... =9&t=15984

Dusty commented "I am pleased to hear that there are schools that still teach shop classes as part of the school curriculum."

Our school requires two Industrial Arts classes. kids can chose from wood, metal, or graphic arts. They can also take advanced shop classes as electives.

I don't know if this is common in other states, but here in PA we also have vocational Technical schools (VoTech) which are alternative high schools that get students started early in various trades.

Are shop classes still available in schools in your area?

It always makes me laugh when I recall that in my high school, the shop teacher was missing fingers, the gym teacher was overweight, the home economics teacher was divorced, and the English teacher was Chinese. :)
