2004 MarkV 520 new and in original box

Post by Nytroxxx »

New to the forum and I have a weird question. I searched for the answer but couldn't find one, so here it goes.

I recently purchased a 2004 Mark V 520 that was in the original box that had never been opened, assembled, or powered up. I opened the box and nothing had rusted or was damaged, It is in prestine condition. It had been stored for eleven years and pretty much forgotten about.

My question is.... what should I inspect, grease, and/or oil before plugging it in and turning on the power????

Hi and welcome to the farm.
First find your favorite comfortable chair and spend a weekend with the owners manual. Lots of good reading in there. :D
Read the entire section on maintenance and alignment and familiarize yourself with the names of all the parts. The names are not intuitive. Because of the age I would lubricate all of the necessary parts and also wax where the book tells you to with Johnson's original formula paste floor wax. (available at most all big box stores) When you are done try a small project and when you have some more questions come back here.
The SS is not difficult to use BUT it is different and there is a slight learning curve.
We like Pix so if you can please post a few
One big warning; DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TURN THE SPEED CONTROL HANDLE WITHOUT HAVING THE MACHINE PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON. BOTH SHAFTS HAVE TO BE TURNING TO MOVE THE SPEED CONTROL OR DAMAGE WILL RESULT.
If you have any difficulties at all come back here and ask.
Also please edit your profile to add your location. There may be a member close enough to help.
