I am refurbishing a Shopsmith bandsaw from the 90's and today received Bill Mayo's bearing upgrade kit. I also have a new set of tires and will soon receive a Carter guide kit and the Incra fence kit. This baby ought to operate beautifully when I get it back together. Putting a lot into it, but I got it on the cheap. Tonight I pulled the top wheel off (slight play in the bearings). The shaft and bearings show virtually no grease. What's best? I have white lithium as well as regular wheel bearing grease on hand...

I say either one should be okay. Just remember to knot overly grease em. Just pack it like you wood a cars front wheel bearing, squish the grease into the needle bearing and leave a thin layer on top.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

I agree with Beeg except that I prefer the automotive wheel bearing grease. That is only a personal preference
