Call Before 4:30PM EST

Post by dusty »

I don't know how long this note has been there but it does seem appropriate. A short while back, there was some discussion about how hard Shopsmith was to contact especially when the "end-of-day" was approaching. I was just checking on order status when I noticed this.

Call before 4:30 EST. I read that to say - "If you call after 4:30PM we ain't answering".

They may be short one person but they do have a new person. Her name is Anita. I assume Jan and Dave are still there. I placed an order with Shopsmith two days ago. The message phone voice then was Jan's and Anita took my order.

Jan has also retired.

The 4:30 close of incoming calls, allows time for callbacks and chasing down of answers that couldn't be handled during a call.

I spoke with Dave last week so he was still there.

Spring Break here so some folks may be out with family. I try to place my orders on-line, but when they give you a discount by email for something, their system is set up in a way you have to talk with someone to use that discount.

If that piece of their ordering system could be enhanced, it would free up personnel at least some time for pulling and filling orders.

I don't believe they have programming folks on staff so that is perhaps a future item for consideration the next time something is done to on-line ordering system I hope.

I am thankful they are still there and working to support us.

I called a couple of days ago and the person I spoke to was Gail.

Also, don't call too close to 4:30 you may not get through. A few weeks ago I called at 4:20 and never did get to talk to anyone. I hung up at 4:35.

I got a "Free Shipping" offer as a result of a recent "email special" order for sanding belts. When I saw the email special for band saw blades, I decided it was time to restock there as well. Reduced prices and free shipping.

Wrong. Could not combine the two offers. Says so right in the free shipping offer.

I spoke today to "Gail" as well when buying table saw blades/arbors on special. She's a 12 year Shopsmith employee who was a casualty of the downsizing a few years back. She's been brought back now that Linda and Jan are both retired.

So if I have followed this correctly, the Customer Service Staff that we are so dependent upon are Gail, Anita and Dave.

I am sure that they will soon have as stellar a reputation as has been the case for years now. Shopsmith Customer Service is Great.
