INCOME TAX

Post by charlese »

O.K.!! I finally gave the Federal Gov't what they thought I owed. Even though I had to part with some $$, I can feel good that I was able to use all that money for a year and 4 months. This was a lot better that handing some of my retirement over to the feds quarterly or monthly and letting them spend it on stuff I don't approve of.

Now they can do that reckless, foolish, sometimes corrupt stuff with my $$. Just can't help that until the next election - - my voice just isn't loud enough!

I guess you know that with a $17.9 TRILLION Federal debt the boat sailed long ago on your contribution.

Me, I go the other way and give them what little I do in monthly installments so like this year I had a check back to help pay my spring property taxes (got it Feb 13 this year).

You know with the county being so bad off that it has to tax my Social Security this is just my way of being extra helpful, a good American and all that other flag waving stuff.

To be honest this is pretty much a wash no matter how you go about it.

I agree with you completely charlese. :) This is the first year in a few that we had to pay federal due to changes in our rental properties. We have always paid state since Utah does not require withholding on retirement income so I don't. Whenever I take money from our IRAs I don't have tax withheld. I am like you, don't pay them until you have to. Since I can afford to do that I don't have taxes withheld. I do agree with Ed though that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't make a difference to the government. It sure makes me feel good though so that is all that counts. :D

It may not make a difference to the government but it does make a difference to those that only pay when they have to. I get to use the money all year Instead of letting someone else use it.
I' not a fan of making payments on anything. I pay the bill in full when and only when they come due. In the mean time the money is mine to use for what I want to use it for.

That was exactly the point of my post. I feel and do just as you do.
