Tontine Cabinet Part 2
The top and bottom 4/4 red oak was stop dadoed to receive the 1/4 Aspine tops and bottoms. Then it was fitted with sides. I used 1/4" double sided quarter sawn red oak veneer for the floating panels.
My dear wife wallpapered the MDF with an Air Force blue wallpaper.
I then created the crown molding. I hand cut using molding planes as well as machined molding using the SS molder to build the crown.
I dovetailed the bottom drawer in 1/4" Aspine with a felt bottom over masonite board bottom. I created a pull from a set of navigator wings, clipping the pins and epoxied a 1/4" oak dowel set in a recess drilled in the back of the wings. Silver, not brass, is the highest ranking metal in the AF, so I used all silver or brushed nickel in the project.
Time to start on the doors.
